One of the post-harvest pests that can be found in North Carolina blueberries is bearberry whiteflies. Although it is rare to find populations large enough to justify insecticide applications in the state, this year, we have received a few reports of commercial plantings infested with this pest.
There is limited information about the biology and, most importantly, the economic impact of these whiteflies on blueberries. However, you can find valuable information on this pest's biology, what can be considered a severe infestation, and management in our new factsheet, Whiteflies in Blueberries.
